About Mike
an OBE by The Queen for his services to sport (sailing).
During his career Mike has also raced 4 Vendee Globe round the world races – most recently in 2012/13, led the British Admiral’s Cup Team and campaigned for 2 years of the Extreme Sailing Series. He has established and holds numerous world records and awards – including the prestigious “Emile Robin” and “Royal Humane Society” awards following the successful rescue of fellow solo sailor Alex Thomson from his sinking yacht in a remote part of the Southern Ocean.
Mike’s passion for the oceans and sailing in all its forms is undiminished and he continues to develop new projects and challenges. As current Chair of “World Sailings” Sustainability Commission Mike supports initiatives that improve the sports environmental impact and he uses his unique experience and knowledge of the world’s oceans to reach and educate a wide non-sailor audience.
